Montecristo
is the most famous of the Havana brands, even though it was established
relatively recently, in 1935. Montecristo's founders, Alonzo Menendez
and Pepe Garcia, found inspiration in Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novel "Le
Comte de Monte Cristo" and named the brand accordingly.
